
David Fredrick
Dave Fredrick is an Associate Professor in Classical Studies at the University of Arkansas, where he also directs the Tesseract Center for Immersive Environments and Game Design. His research interests include space and artwork in Pompeii, intersectionality in video games, and video games as platforms for teaching culture and language. Tesseract’s games and apps have been supported by major grants, including an NEH Advanced Institute in Digital Humanities (2013) and a Digital Projects for the Public award (2020), and have received national and international awards, including a Grand Prize Educational Award (Unity3d, 2010), a Golden Muse award (Alliance of American Museums, 2015), 1st prize in the desktop division (European Conference for Game Based Learning, 2015), and a silver award overall in the Serious Games competition (2021).
